Practicum Advocacy

My cooperating teacher works to advocate their department and their students work in a variety of ways. While it may not have been an ordinary year with the pandemic in full swing, there are typically art shows where students can showcase their favorite work from the year, which this year will be a virtual event. Students can also volunteer to join an art club which gets involved in making group art projects, getting involved with the community, and going on trips to local artists or shows. The hallways feature artwork from the wide range of ages in the school, which help to illustrate the variety of media and learning that takes place in their art department.

My CT also makes use of Artsonia for every major project. They’re able to utilize the mobile application to take pictures directly onto the service, collecting them all into a given project and sharing the concept with the greater art instruction world. While the individual child’s names are removed or blurred out (relatively easily through the use of the Artsonia application) the general output of the building is showcased very professionally. Additionally, my CT makes use of a blog that features many of their resources, and encourages students to in turn create their own blogs where they can detail their process, their finished products, and what they have learned.
